Back at it again with the second book in the All For the Game trilogy. You will previously have remembered my comments about the first book, The Foxhole Court. Fortunately, I found this book a little less deliberately edgelord. Unfortunately, we do get positively trauma-blasted by bad things happening to nearly every single character.

I did generally appreciate getting more insight into some of the character to make them a little less one-dimensional. The character work isn’t great, mind, but at least there is an attempt. The author does take the approach that suffering builds character and suffering is the only character building she knows. This is pretty eye-roll worthy but whatever no one asked me lol.

They are pretty easy reads, and as previously discussed I will have to finish out the series for my book club. I still don’t think I necessarily recommend them, lol.
